DBA Dance Academy takes their responsibility seriously to ensure the safety of their students.
- All parents must complete enrolment details regarding the student to be, clear emergency contact details for the student, any relevant medical conditions and confirm if their child is allowed to be in photos or videos and shared on the DBA Dance Academy pages social media pages.
- DBA Dance Academy May contact you for the following purposes … in relation to any service or activity you have signed up for in order to ensure that we can deliver the services to you , to remind you of important deadlines and/or renewal notifications, in relation to any correspondence we receive from you or any comment or complaint you make about our services, to occasionally market products or services that we think may be of interest to you .
- We will not hold more information than required and will ensure all personal data is kept up to date and used only for its specific purpose(s) as outlined above.
- DBA Dance Academy will only hold personal data whilst the student attends the Academy , if the child leaves and isn’t coming back , all personal details will be deleted from our system.
- It is the parent’s responsibility to notify the Academy, of any changes to their emergency contact details and general contact information.
- In case of a fire emergency all teachers have a clear understanding of procedures to follow.
- The Academy will undertake regular assessment of risks regarding our premises and any concerns will be raised with the owners.
- It is the Academy’s responsibility to keep a fully equipped First Aid Box within the building or with them in person. In case of an incident, an Accident report must be completed in the 1st aid logbook, and a copy given to the parent/guardian of the student on collection.
- If required the Academy will contact the emergency services first, then the parent / guardian of the student(s) involved by the telephone number(s) provided .
- Parents understand that dance is an active sport and injuries can happen. The school accepts no responsibility for injuries sustained via any means other than a teacher’s negligence.
- All self-employed teachers are required to have the following certificates and qualifications, PVG, up to date 1stAid certificate, Dance Qualification, public liability, and music license.
- All Students will be supervised during class and at the end of classes until a parent or guardian is present.
- parents/guardians are responsible to set up standing orders for monthly payments to come out on the 1st of each month .
- Parents / Guardians must let us know by written confirmation, this can be by message or by a written letter or email, if someone else is collecting their child.

- Students/parents or guardians should inform the teacher of any special or new health conditions or existing injuries before participating in class.
- Parents/ Guardian’s must be responsible for ensuring your child’s punctuality.
- Dress code must be observed at all times, especially footwear for safe dance practice.
- Only indoor dance shoes should be worn inside the studio to protect the floor and for health and safety reasons.
- No dance footwear should be worn out with the studio to protect not only the footwear, the dance floor and for health and safety reasons.
- Shoes must be worn when using the toilet facilities or going anywhere within the building.
- Students should not wear any jewellery that can cause injury to themselves or others (stud earrings, and jewellery worn for religious or cultural reasons are acceptable).
- Hair must be off the students face when taking part in the class.
- Water or non-fizzy juice is permitted in classes and is the student’s parents / guardian’s responsibility to ensure their child brings them with them.
- Small snacks are allowed in the studio if students clean up after themselves.
- No nuts are allowed in the studio due to nuts allergies.
- DBA Dance Academy will not tolerate any bullying of any kind and students found to be causing distress or upset to another will be dealt with and possibly asked to leave the school.
We are committed to reviewing our policies and procedures annually.
DBA Dance Academy is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children in its care. It recognises the responsibility to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse, and exploitation. For the purposes of this policy and associated procedures a child is recognised as someone under the age of 18 years.
Staff and volunteers will work together to embrace difference and diversity and respect the rights of children and young people.
This document outlines DBA Dance Academy commitment to protecting children.
These guidelines are based on the following principles:
• The welfare of children is the primary concern.
• All children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, socio-economic
status, religious belief and/or sexual identity have the right to protection from all forms of harm and abuse.
• Child protection is everyone’s responsibility.
• Children have the right to express views on all matters which affect them, should they wish to do so.
• Organisations shall work in partnership together with children and parents/carers to promote the welfare, health, and development of children.
DBA Dance Academy will:
• Promote the health and welfare of children by providing opportunities for them to take part in Dance safely.
• Respect and promote the rights, wishes and feelings of children.
• Promote and implement appropriate procedures to safeguard the well-being of children and protect them from abuse.
• Recruit, train, support and supervise its staff, members, and volunteers to adopt best practice to safeguard and protect children from abuse and to reduce risk to themselves.
•All coaches / and relevant volunteers will become members of the Disclosure Scotland’s PVG scheme
• Require staff, members, and volunteers to adopt and abide by this Child Protection Policy and these procedures.
• Respond to any allegations of misconduct or abuse of children in line with this Policy and these procedures as well as implementing, where appropriate, the relevant disciplinary and appeals procedures.
• Observe guidelines issued by local Child Protection Committees for the protection of children.
• Regularly monitor and evaluate the implementation of this Policy and these procedures.
Review
This Policy and these Procedures will be regularly reviewed:
• In accordance with changes in legislation and guidance on the protection of children or following any changes within DBA Dance Academy.
• Following any issues or concerns raised about the protection of children within DBA Dance Academy.
• In all other circumstances, at least every three years.
